Next week we send the October/November edition of H2Open magazine to press – and it's another cracker of an issue. We have write-ups of Howard James' record-breaking earliest Channel swim and Sabrine Wiedmer's historic crossing of the Dál Riata Channel; the definitive guide to jellyfish for open water swimmers; Olympic round-up; wild swimming in Scandinavia; how to inject a bit of fun into your swimming training; plus all the usual event reviews, training, nutrition and gear reviews.
An annual subscription to H2Open magazine costs less than a pair of goggles – and you can get your first three issues for just £8.70 when you pay by direct debit. Subscribe now, save money on the cover price, and get your copy of the October/November before it hits the shops!
Enjoy the newsletter and happy swimming.

STA Working to Professionalise and Improve Teaching Standards

STA led the way three years ago by becoming the first awarding body to create a nationally accredited Level 2 Open Water Swimming Coaching qualification that is designed to help give aquatic and triathlon professionals the specialist skills needed to coach swimmers in an open water setting.

To support the coaching qualification STA also offer a STA Level 1 Award for Pool to Open Water Swimming Coaching.  This provides the ‘stepping stone’ to the Level 2 award; it gives swimming teachers and candidates from a non-swimming teaching background i.e. triathlon trainers, the preparatory open water swimming knowledge needed to take on the advanced  Level 2 coaching award.
