H2Open Newsletter: Better breaststroke and the art of pace versitility

We have just finished putting together the Aug/Sep issue of the magazine and it will be sent to the printer tonight. See below for a preview of the cover and contents.

While the magazine is being printed, I'll be flying off for eight days with Swimming Holidays in Finland where my trip should include a midnight swim in full daylight! Keep an eye on our Facebook page and Instagram feed for pictures and updates.

Thanks again to everyone who came along to our Open Water Swimming Show on Sunday at the Henley Mile. We know you had to put up with some rain in the morning but the sun came out in the end. Our provisional date for 2017 is 9 July and we'll be starting planning soon so please let us know if there's anything you think we should include that wasn't there this year.

Enjoy the newsletter and happy swimming

Editor, H2Open Magazine.

Why we're swimming from Oxford to Henley

Why it's useful to practise and feel comfortable swimming at a range of different speeds.
Better Breaststroke
Breaststroke is the world’s most popular stroke, primarily because it’s closest of all the strokes to how humans swim instinctively. However, those instincts lead to a thoroughly wasteful way of swimming. Terry Laughlin from Total Immersion describes a counterintuitive – but markedly more efficient – way of swimming breaststroke.
