H2Open Newsletter – You Get What You Train For (Mostly)

Published: Wed, 06/22/16

British open water marathon swimmers Keri-anne Payne and Jack Burnell had their Rio places confirmed last week, but on the other side of the world it was a different story. Despite qualifying for the Olympics, Kane Radford and Charlotte Webby have been denied their Rio spots by Swimming New Zealand selectors. See below for the full story.
Simon also suffered a crushing disappointment at the weekend, when he had to bow out of the gruelling BLDSA Champion of Champions because of cramp and a lack of open water training. In his blog this week he explains how doing sprints in a heated pool probably wasn't the best training for one of the UK's toughest open water events.
Elsewhere in the newsletter we share some inspiring stories of just a few of your amazing swims from around the world.
Do you have a burning question for our open water experts? Let us know and your query could be answered in our Ask the Experts feature in the magazine.
Enjoy the newsletter and happy swimming.
