[H2Open Newsletter] - Swim faster by reducing drag and integrating your body

Published: Wed, 02/10/16

It is testament to the growing popularity of winter swimming that more than 1000 people signed up for the Big Chillswim at Windermere at the weekend. While I wasn't brave enough to compete in the 1000m event, I did swim in the 240m (and was very chuffed to receive a silver medal in my age group!). Meanwhile, Simon was keeping warm and training for a 31-mile pool swimming challenge
This week's training article from Total Immersion head coach Terry Laughlin is about how to get all parts of your body to work in harmony – and help you swim faster. Plus, we take a look at what goes into your sports drink, and why.
2016 marks five years of H2Open – and we are throwing a party to celebrate! See below for details on how you can get your hands on the most sought after tickets in town.
If you subscribe to H2Open Magazine but haven't yet received your copy of the February/March issue, don't despair. We had a bit of a delivery glitch but new copies are now on their way to you.
Enjoy the newsletter and happy swimming!

Race the GB Talent Squad at BEST Fest 2016
Best Fest
There aren't many places or occasions when you can take part in eight swimming events over seven days - and have a chance to test yourself against some of the faster open water swimmers in the world. In fact, we can only think of one: the BEST Fest Open Water Swim Festival in Mallorca.
This year's week long celebration of open water swimming takes place from 28 May to 4 June. It's the perfect starting point for the open water season, with water temperatures typically in the high teens. The dates coincide with half term for a lot of UK schools, and Colonia St Jordi is a lovely family holiday destination, for swimmers and non-swimmers alike.
BEST Fest takes place in and around the stunningly clear waters off Colonia St Jordi, surrounded by world famous beaches and located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and tranquillity. The eight swimming events range in distance from 500m to 10km. While some events are competitive and offer age-group prizes, others are deliberately more leisurely and swimmers are encouraged to swim in groups and enjoy the experience.
