[H2Open Newsletter] - If you want to swim more, swim slower

Published: Wed, 12/16/15

It might seem counter-intuative, but if you want to be a better swimmer then sometimes it is good to swim slowly. In this week's training article we look at the benefits of the 'long, slow swim.' We also bring you six easy stretches to keep you supple after your swim workout.
If you follow H2Open Magazine on social media (and if you don't, why not?!), you may have wondered why we were flying the rainbow flag last week. In the newsletter this week we look at the response from the outdoor swimming community to the homophobic attack on open water swimmer Helena Martins.
The February/March issue of H2Open Magazine is our fifth anniversary issue and we are very excited to have a Q&A session with open water swimming legend Cassie Patten. Email  editor@h2openmagazine.com with your questions for Cassie.
We also want your letters and pics for the next issue – email us your letters and winter swimming pics to be in with a chance of winning a Swimovate Poolmate2 open water swimming watch.
Enjoy the newsletter and happy swimming!

Editor, H2Open Magazine
PS. Look out for our Christmas quiz next week and a chance to win a changing robe from Booicore.
SOME SWIMMERS WEAR TIES – GET OVER IT!
Open water swimmer Helena Martins was attacked for being a woman wearing a tie. Rather than be a victim of hate crime she launched an online campaign to raise money to fight homophobia.
