[H2Open Newsletter] - Seven Steps to Achieving Your Open Water Swimming Goals

Published: Wed, 11/25/15

How do you approach your distance training? If you are training for a 10km marathon swim in 2016, are you planning on simply increasing your long swims? This year I swam the Dart 10k (admittedly current assisted) in September. Previous to that the furthest I had swum this summer was 5km in Windermere in June. But two or three hard hour-long sessions a week meant that I was fit and (relatively) fast for the 10km. This week in our training feature we look at the importance of training fast when racing long.
The Christmas issue of H2Open Magazine will be in the shops and with subscribers at the end of this week. Things to look forward to include interviews with Team GB's Jack Burnell and endurance swimmer Beth French who is taking on the Oceans Seven despite being diagnosed with ME. We have tips on how to achieve your 2016 New Year's swimming resolutions and advice on how to swim in rough water and train for an ice mile. Plus, a Gear special on all the best kit for open water swimmers. Check out our magazine subscription offers here.
Meanwhile, in the newsletter: take our seven steps to achieving your swimming goals, follow the Madswimmers as they attempt the world's highest swim and read Deborah Durbin's lastest blog on the ups and downs of organising a race. And we have a week for two in Mallorca with BestFest and a Dryrobe Advance up for grabs in our competitions.
Enjoy the newsletter and happy swimming!
