The Outdoor Swimmer team took our stand up to the Great North Swim last weekend. We love the new venue at Brockhole and had a fantastic time swimming, swimrunning, talking to some of our subscribers and introducing new readers to the magazine. The Great North Swim is still the biggest swimming event in the
UK and continues to evolve each year. This year, for example, they allowed non-wetsuit swimming - a very welcome rule change given that water temperatures were close to 20 degrees. We recommend a visit next year.
On Saturday I'm heading to Paris for a 10k swim in Canal de L'ourq. I hope the fine weather continues. Other events this weekend worth looking into include:
England
- BLDSA Champion of Champions (Dover)
- Swim the English Channel Up North Challenge (Allostock)
- Lock
to Lock (Eynsham, River Thames)
Ireland
- Lough Key Castle Island Loop
- The Boyne Swim
- Rock around the
Point
More details and links to these events and many more throughout the year can be found on our website and in the events listings section of the magazine.
Swim wild and free,
