Swimming in the snow and final part of our DIY swim films series

As temperatures in the UK have plummeted this week, I've (sensibly!?) restricted my outdoor swimming to the heated luxury of Hampton Lido. The only time I get cold is during the quick dash from the water to the changing rooms. However, I know many of you have been doing some real outdoor swimming, and we'd love to see your pictures of swimming in the snow. Send us your best shots for consideration for our monthly Selkie-sponsored photography competition and your fun images for our Swim Snaps pages. Pictures should be sent to editor@outdoorswimmer.com.

Talking of winter swimming, did you know there is a bi-annual Winter Swimming World Championships? It next takes place in March 2018, in Tallinn, Estonia, and is a social and cultural experience as much as a swimming event. The 2016 World Championships was in Tyumen, Siberia, in a pool carved out of a frozen river - see below for a report from that event to give you an idea of what you can expect in Tallinn if you decide to go. These events are about fun and international friendship as much as swimming, so don't think you need to be fast to take part.

Finally, and on a different topic, we'd love to get some more ratings and reviews of Outdoor Swimmer on our app. Can you help us? Our app carries a digital version of our printed magazine and is available across Apple, Android, Kindle and Windows devices, and online at Pocket Mags. Please download the app or follow the link to Pocket Mags and tell the world what you think of us.

>>PHOTO OF THE WEEK
TYUMEN, SIBERIA, 2016
Blue skies and sunshine make a swim look tempting, but with air temperatures 5 degrees or more below zero and the ice 1m thick on the surrounding river, the organisers had to work hard to keep the pool from freezing over.
If you've got an impressive snow and swimming picture, we'd love to see it. In each issue of the magazine we publish a selection of your images in our Selkie Reader Photo Contest. To be in with a chance of having your photo featured in the magazine and winning outdoor swimming kit and apparel from Selkie Swim Co send us your best swim pics.
