We love the summer at Outdoor Swimmer, but it also exhausts us. One of the team seems to be at an event nearly every weekend. Sometimes we're split between two or three different events as we were last weekend. I was taking part in Marnaton's beautiful 6.5km Cadaqués
swim, while Jonathan and Alice were at Swim Serpentine. As a magazine for swimmers by swimmers, it's important to us that we're out there, practising what we write about and meeting with other swimmers - but however much we enjoy it, it still takes a lot of time and energy.
So we greet the end of the northern hemisphere summer with mixed feelings. We miss the excitement of
events, the banter with fellow swimmers and the satisfaction of swimming long distances outside but we look forward to having a few weekends at home.
Luckily, the end of summer does not mean the end of swimming. Some of us will return to the pool to work on technique and fitness or even compete in masters galas. Others will embrace the cooler temperatures and continue
swimming outside, albeit for shorter periods of time. Or you could do both. And those are the themes for our October issue of Outdoor Swimmer magazine, which goes to press later this week.
So, all you need to do to beat the end of summer blues is to make sure you get a copy!

Meanwhile, this weekend the team and I will be at the Hever Castle Swim, a new event we're promoting in partnership with Castle Triathlon. Online entries close on Friday but entries will also be available on the day. Remember to use code "SWIMOUT" to get your Outdoor Swimmer discount if you want to join us.
Enjoy the newsletter and happy
swimming.
