Yesterday could hardly be described as offering ideal weather for swimming in the south east of England. As I set off towards Kent the wind was ripping twigs and even branches off trees and the rain was coming down in bucketfuls. Driving conditions were horrendous. It can hardly get much worse than this, I thought, so
therefore it must get better. And luckily it did, just in time for my meeting at Hever Castle, which involved a swim in the castle lake and the River Eden. I love it when my work meetings require me to swim.
While we were in the water another squall blew through, whipping the surface of the lake into a frenzy and driving the rain hard into our faces. It was fantastic. I swam backstroke to make the most of the moment. Then we
turned into the river channel and suddenly it was calm again. The sun came out and we swam breaststroke, gently pushing aside the duckweed, which was surprisingly warm. It was a wonderful and varied swim, and we have an exciting announcement to make soon relating to yesterday's trip, so keep watching this space.
Meanwhile, two of our 'Win a Dryrobe' golden tickets have been found and claimed. We've heard rumours that a third
as been found but we're still waiting for the winner to get in touch. This means that three are still out there somewhere. Our June issue is out in shops so if you haven't got a copy, go and buy one now - or get one directly from us here - for a chance to win.
This weekend, two of the
team will be up at the Great North Swim in Windermere while I will be tackling the Jubilee River 10k swim. If you're at either of those events, please come and say hello.
Enjoy this week's newsletter and happy swimming.
