Hi ,
It's always exciting when a new issue of Outdoor Swimmer lands, but we are particularly proud of the new issue of Outdoor Swimmer, out now. In our cover story we meet swimmer and runner Alex Francis, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019. His story is both
sobering and inspiring – despite MND stopping him in his tracks he has redefined what adventure means to him, taking on a cold water swimming challenge that has helped him physically and mentally.
We also meet lockdown's army of novice outdoor swimmers. It was a real pleasure hearing what an unexpected joy and lifeline swimming outdoors was for so many people over the past 12 months. What is even more impressive is how many continued through the winter!
We have also put together some strength & conditioning exercises to keep you swimfit ahead of a big summer of swimming – part of a new monthly series of dryland exercises. In our travel section we look ahead to wild swims and walks in Cornwall. Ever wondered
about the origins of freestyle? We find out how white people named a style of swimming indigenous people had mastered millennia before. And in Swimming and Breast Cancer we look your options if you are taking to the water post surgery. Plus, our usual mix of features & interviews, outdoor swimming news, training & technique, nature & wildlife and kit reviews.
We are shipping issues now, or sign up to a subscription to receive your copy every month plus a fabric swim badge and a host of other cool perks.
