Dear
Even though Blue Monday is just a marketing ploy dreamed up by a holiday company, it is never a bad time to talk about mental health. This January is harder than usual for many of us because we can’t swim, and as we know, swimming - especially outdoors - can be a big boost to your mental health. According to data we collected from more than 2000 swimmers in a recent survey, more than 70% of
people said that swimming outdoors is essential or very important to their general sense of well-being.
Even if you can’t swim at the moment, you can still access some of the feel-good benefits of outdoor swimming by making plans for when we can swim more easily again. In addition, we recommend taking some time out for yourself. Try to get outside for a walk, preferably somewhere where you can see water. Even if it’s water you can’t swim in at the moment, visiting your local swim spot for a walk or jog should still lift
your mood.
Have a happy Blue Monday and we look forward to seeing you all back to swimming soon.
