Outdoor Swimmer magazine celebrates outdoor swimming and the joy of being immersed in nature. This year in particular our relationship with the water and the outdoors has been more important than ever, and the amount of people still swimming outdoors this winter is testament to the growing body of research linking cold water swimming with improved mental as well as physical health. Christmas this year is going to be very different, so more than ever we will be finding joy in the outdoors where we can – whether that is winter swimming or a long walk in the hills. Our December issue is full of stories of finding joy in the face of the pandemic. And, as we look forward to 2021, our January issue includes the Northumbrian adventurer blazing his own watery trail, record-breaking 4-way Channel swimmer Sarah Thomas on the icy thrill of ice miles, water safety from the RNLI, longed-for escapes to California and Devon and how to change your life by becoming an open water coach.
