🥾 Get moving! Lace up your walking boots for an adventure-filled March 🥾
Next month, stand with women and girls globally by taking on the WaterAid Walk for Water challenge – and get free funky
laces for your boots!
For many of our readers, walking comes a close second as their favourite hobby after outdoor swimming. So we've got the perfect activity to keep you busy if your wild swims are less frequent at the moment... the WaterAid Walk for Water!
The challenge this March is to walk 155km over the month or 5km every day, raising funds to make sure no woman or girl is held back by a lack of clean water.
Around the world, women and girls are being held back by having to walk 5km or more for water every day.
Their hopes for the future are impacted as they miss out on paid work or school. You can show solidarity with these women by taking on the WaterAid Walk for Water Challenge.
Sign up now for free resources, including a fundraising guide and distance tracker, and once you've raised £5 you’ll receive free blue laces to jazz up your boots!
Throughout your challenge, walk for women like Asha (pictured), a 27-year-old mother of three, who has to walk nearly two hours each day to collect water from the Dumal River in Ethiopia. Sometimes her children fall ill with diarrhoea because the water isn’t safe to drink.
Asha knows life would be very different if they had access to clean water: “It’s very challenging but what can I do?”
With clean water nearby, Asha would be free from this daily struggle, and her family would thrive. Your fundraising will make a
difference.
🥾 Our Brand Partnerships Manager Yvonne is taking on the challenge! 🥾
Our fabulous and intrepid Brand Partnerships Manager Yvonne is swapping her swimsuit for walking boots to take on the WaterAid Walk for Water in March.
She explains why she's keen to take on the
155km:
"I can often find myself chained to my desk this time of year especially while my local lake venue has more restricted swim times so this feels like a great motivation to get out every day and clock up the steps. I'm signing up with some friends to motivate each other, and as a group of mums its very visceral to think
of women doing this for the necessity of water!"
We'll be cheering you on, Yvonne! 🙌
