Dear fellow swimmers
Camping and wild swimming feel like natural partners. For those of us
who love plunging into open water, spending the night outdoors elevates the entire experience. Pitch a tent near a river, lake or coastline and you can step straight out of your tent and into pristine morning waters before crowds or daytime water traffic arrive – and, later, enjoy a glorious golden hour swim without worrying about the long journey home.
However, if you're planning to sleep out in the wild, your kit selection requires careful consideration, which is why we've put together a guide to swim camping kit that balances lightweight gear with quick-drying, water resistant accessories and clever packing solutions.
To keep with the theme, below you will also find our guide to packing for a swim travel trip and how to layer up after a swim, plus reviews of trail running kit and active sunglasses. Finally, for those of you looking for even more adventure, read on for our guide to planning an A-to-B swim while towing all of your camping kit!
Happy swimming!
