🌊 Rare opportunity: Swim the English Channel THIS summer 🌊
Have you ever dreamed of tackling the ‘Everest’ of swims? Usually, this dream requires years of planning, but a rare window has just opened
up
Â
Due to a team unfortunately having to withdraw, the drowning prevention charity SwimTayka has an immediate opening for a relay team of between 5 and 6 swimmers to tackle the English Channel this summer. The swim window is June 21-28.
Â
Why this is a golden opportunity
Â
Securing a pilot boat and a
crossing slot is no mean feat – but SwimTayka does this every summer. To give you an idea of the demand:
SwimTayka is already booking teams for next year and beyond.
The administrative and logistical legwork is already in place.
You skip the waiting list and dive straight into training.
Â
Â
But even better, you get 100% backing from SwimTayka. The charity provides comprehensive support to ensure you and your team are prepared for the rigours of the Channel, including:
Â
Expert Guidance: Navigating the regulations and requirements of a Channel crossing.
Logistical Handling: The charity manages the boat and pilot communications.
Mentoring and Support: You will have a team manager to help guide you through.
Purposeful Swimming: Your crossing helps raise funds for SwimTayka’s mission to provide free swimming lessons to children and turn the tide on
the world’s drowning statistics.
Is your team ready?Â
Â
SwimTayka is looking for a group of 5 to 6 swimmers who are ready to commit to the training and the adventure of a lifetime. Whether you are a group of friends, a swimming club, or a corporate team looking for the ultimate challenge, this is your moment.
Â
You’ll commit to raising a minimum of £1,500 per person, but SwimTayka has loads of fundraising ideas to get you started.
Â
Note: Because the crossing is this June, swimmers should already have a solid swimming foundation and be prepared to complete their qualifying swims
soon.
Â
What is SwimTayka looking for?
Â
SwimTayka is looking for swimmers who can comfortably complete around 2.5km per hour in open
water. Ideally, your team will already have open water experience, preferably in the sea. You will also need to complete a relay qualification swim and have a valid medical in place.
Â
BUT SwimTayka is there to support you at every stage. Why not chat with SwimTayka first, to find out a bit more, ask questions, and decide if the challenge is for
you?
Â
Don't wait – this slot will go fast!
