Dear fellow swimmers
Cold Water Swimming Championships
Ella, Rowan and I had a fantastic day at the Cold Water Swimming Championships at Tooting Bec Lido last week. This
was the first time the event has been held since 2019 due to the pandemic and then a pool closure. It's brilliant that it's back with its bizarre combination of fancy hats and cold water racing. I know competition isn't really the point but I was secretly pleased to take home some medals.
Many thanks also to everyone who introduced themselves and told
us how much they enjoy Outdoor Swimmer magazine. It's always good to hear! We'll have a full report on the event in our March issue.
Briefs, jammers or shorts?
We had a big and
impassioned response to last week's survey asking "Should older men wear Speedos?" It was, of course, meant to provoke a response. It seems that the older we get, the more society judges us for our choice of swimwear but the less we care.
You can see the results here: Men's Costumes: What to wear, where and when
(Not sure if this is wise, but I've included a picture of myself in my briefs from the
Cold Water Championships below...)
Follow up on Bluesky
One of the findings from our Trends in Outdoor Swimming Survey was that very few of you look for our content on X. We've therefore
decided to take a break from the platform and explore Bluesky. Please take a look and follow us there.
