Dear fellow swimmers
Should older male swimmers wear swimming briefs?
We’ve just got the data back from our Trends in Outdoor Swimming survey (many thanks to everyone who
took the time to do this). Just under three quarters of respondents were women. The majority of our team at Outdoor Swimmer are women. Many swimming groups are female dominated.
But we haven’t forgotten about our male readers. In the March issue of the magazine, we’re going to look at swimming costumes for men. There’s more choice than you might think,
and even some controversy. Try searching for “should older men wear Speedos” to see some outrage. I remember an article, I think from the Telegraph around 10 years ago, stating that men over the age of 40 shouldn’t wear Speedos.
Our view here is that the best costume to wear is the one that supports the swimming you want to do (rather than distracts
from it) and in which you feel confident and comfortable, regardless of age or body type. The only change to this would be if you are taking part in an event that requires you to wear a certain type of costume.
We would, however, be interested to know what you like to wear, and when. If you have two minutes to spare, please let us know here (two questions only).
Free workshop on water quality
University College London and the University of West London are delighted to invite you to a half-day online workshop on to explore how we can achieve "Local, trusted, up-to-date, surface water quality information for better decision making”.
The workshop is open to
