Dear Swimmer

One of our favourite things about swimming outdoors is the community. Supportive, colourful, fun and full of joy, the social aspect of swimming outdoors takes its benefits to the next level.

That's why we love outdoor swimming events and travel. Not just because they give us something to train for or aspire to, but also because they bring us together with other outdoor swimmers.

You don't have to be a brilliant swimmer to take part in swim events or go on a swim holiday. So, if you fancy an event but don't know how to start, read on for an opportunity to join a very special Outdoor Swimmer team at a very special swim event.

In the challenge section of our Swim On! issue, we share the joy of swim events. Plus, you can get swim travel inspiration in our free Travel Guide. Plus, if you subscribe, you'll find event listings, training advice and special offers in all our magazines.

Do you fancy taking part in a unique event?

"There's no other event quite like the Wild Swim Relays," says our Features Writer, Rowan Clarke. "You're camping, swimming, toasting marshmallows on a camp fire, having a quick snooze, swimming heads-up breaststroke at night while chatting with other swimmers... It's like a festival with swimming instead of live bands."

We’re picking a team of subscribers and contributors to get a free place at the Wild Swim Relay at Shepperton (London) on June 7th & 8th. As a team member, you'll get free entry, a guided training plan plus a goody bag - and the support from the rest of Team Outdoor Swimmer.

To join:

1. Subscribe to Outdoor Swimmer Magazine (print, digital or Extra)
2. Email Rowan rowan@outdoorswimmer.com with a couple of sentences about you, why you want to take part in the event and a photo.

RAVE ON FOR OUR RIVERS

Swimming communities are key in the fight for cleaner rivers. In the The joyful feature-length documentary film Rave On For The Avon, filmmakers followed campaigners around the River Avon in Bristol - and it's coming to a cinema near you.

Most screenings will be followed by a Q&A with local swimming and water quality experts. Both Ella (Henley) and Rowan (Weston-Super-Mare) will be on Q&A panels in March.

NEW ISSUE INCOMING

Our brand new March issue is with the printers. This issue's front cover is by an incredible South American photographer whose work focuses on culture, gender and on how humans interact with the natural world.
