Dear fellow swimmers
Swimmable rivers
This is our final edition of The Dip for 2024. I therefore mostly wanted to say, from everyone here at Outdoor Swimmer, thank you for reading our
newsletters each week, and also for the many positive and encouraging emails you have sent us. We aim to create content you find useful and entertaining, and we love hearing back from you about your swimming adventures, especially when they’re inspired by something we’ve published.
We’re always looking to improve so feel free to email your suggestions
and complete our survey if you haven’t already done so.
Looking back at 2024, a big theme has
again been water pollution and I know many of your joined the March for Clean Water. If you live in or frequently visit London, you may be away that the Mayor has committed to swimmable rivers in London within 10 years.
The London Assembly Environment Committee is investigating what this would look like and how it might be achieved. They have issued a
“Call for Evidence” and are running a survey, which are running until 20 January.
If you have time to respond during the Christmas break, it’s another way to get your voice heard and hopefully move us one step closer to cleaner and more accessible river swimming spots. Find out more here.
From all the team here, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And if you’re not yet a
subscriber to Outdoor Swimmer magazine, and you would like support, encouragement and inspiration to help reach your 2025 swimming goals, sign up now!
