Dear fellow swimmers,
What a whirlwind week for outdoor swimming conditions. My week started with a surprisingly cold swim when I had to scrape the ice from my car before heading out, I couldn't believe it! Once at the lake though, it was perfect. Clear sky, mist coming off the much warmer water, which was still 16ºc. It was utter bliss and felt very seasonal
indeed. At the latter end of the week it has been so wet and windy, I haven't wanted to venture out at all. One thing is certain though, we are into cold water swimming season now and you need to be heading out to the water with more than just a few items – please do take care in these next few months. Take a little extra time to plan, prep clothes, warm drinks and weather proof gear before heading out.
Next week our November issue will be heading to our print subscribers and it is all about cold water swimming. From the science behind the
benefits to what neoprene accessories you can wear, we have everything covered online and in our magazine to guide you through autumn and winter swimming. It was fantastic to see so many new winter swimmers join us for our introduction to cold water in our virtual event this week. We discussed common concerns like ice cream headaches and myth busted hearsay advice. Do keep an eye out for similar events you can join.
In this week's newsletter we ask if the benefits of cold water swimming are enough to counter the risks, learn how to train in indoor public pool sessions without getting lane rage and get a sneak preview of the new range of wetsuits from
Zoggs.
