Dear fellow swimmers This weekend I’m heading to Windermere for the Great North Swim (although I’m actually doing the swimrun). This is my first trip to the Lake District since before the pandemic. I’m looking forward
to it. The Great North Swim has inspired thousands of people to take up outdoor swimming. It’s in a beautiful location, the atmosphere is fantastic and it caters for a wide range of swimming abilities and experiences. It’s also the first large-scale event of the open water event season. If you’re not doing it this year, save the date in your diaries now for next. And if you are there, look out for me. I will be at the WaterAid stand from time to time. This week’s newsletter feels full of good news and outdoor swimming opportunities for the summer. We celebrate London’s Canary Wharf reopening to swimmers this summer, welcome the return of Swim Serpentine and tip our (swimming) caps to Jesus
Green, the 100-yard pool in Cambridge, which turns 100 years old this summer. |
