Log your swims and connect with climate action |
Inspire your friends, family and colleagues by joining Climategames
Swimming into plastic is unpleasant and unsightly. For fish and animals, it can be deadly. Unfortunately, plastic pollution is a significant and growing global problem. To combat this we have launched a two-month swim challenge with Climategames! Inspire others by building your impact on Climategames this summer. For every person who signs up, Climategames will remove 500g of plastic from the ocean – the equivalent of more than 50 plastic
drinking bottles each – and send it for sorting into different types such as PPE & PET and recycling. Every stage of this process is checked, weighed, tagged and verified to ensure the plastic is fully removed from the waterways.
Download the Climategames app
today and you can start to convert your summer of sports into one of three climate-positive activities: removing plastic from the ocean; planting trees; and sequestering carbon from the atmosphere.

Plastic pollution is a significant global problem. It is estimated that around 400 million tonnes of plastic are produced worldwide each year. Unlike organic materials, plastic does not biodegrade easily and can persist in the environment for hundreds of
years. This leads to various ecological issues, including the contamination of waterways and the ingestion of plastic by animals, which can be harmful and even fatal. Microplastics, tiny particles of plastic, have also been found in human blood, indicating the extent to which plastic pollution has permeated the environment.
If we continue with our current consumption and disposal patterns, it is projected that by 2050, the amount of plastic in the oceans could outweigh the total weight of fish. Furthermore, the recycling rate for plastic is dismally low, with less than 10 percent of all plastic ever produced being recycled. This highlights the urgent need for action to reduce plastic waste, improve recycling systems, and develop sustainable
alternatives to plastic.
Why support nature-based solutions?
Climategames allows you to offset unavoidable carbon emissions. While it is important to strive for overall emissions reductions, there are instances where some carbon emissions are difficult to avoid due to technological limitations, infrastructure constraints, or the nature of specific industries. These include essential transportation, industrial processes,
high-energy-demand activities, agricultural emissions and limited renewable energy availability. Join organisations who are implementing wellbeing, climate strategy and social impact initiatives on one platform which automatically syncs to the Climategames App, making it easy for your people to take
part.
