YOUR ESSENTIAL WEEKLY EDIT OF OUTDOOR SWIMMING
#swimwildandfree
Dear fellow swimmers
I’m looking forward to my first swimrun event of the year tomorrow, a short fun event at a lake in Richmond. Every time I do one of these events I feel grateful that I have the means and the physical and mental health to swim and run. It’s something I try not to take for granted and Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from 15 to 21 May, is a good time to remind ourselves of this. This week, some of the team here at
Outdoor Swimmer have taken a moment to reflect on their personal experiences of mental health and how swimming can help.
One of the recommendations for helping us cope with anxiety (this year’s theme for mental health awareness week) is to spend time in nature. But if our environment is spoilt, it can make things worse. We’re therefore partnering
with Climategames to help remove plastic from the ocean – and we need your help, as follows:
Download the
Climategames app onto your phone and create an account (it’s free) [Google Play] [Apple]
Connect the app to your smart watch (optional – but makes it easier to track your swims)
