We are excited to share this message from Team GB marathon swimmer Alice Dearing and EdenTree Investment Management about a new swimming challenge to raise awareness and funds for the Black Swimming Association.
Let’s get swimming and save lives
Join Team GB Olympic Marathon swimmerAlice Dearing and EdenTree Investment Management in a month-long swim
challenge to support the Black Swimming Association (BSA), a charity Alice helped co-found that encourages inclusion and positive relationships with water amongst all communities.
Sport England tells us that 95% of black adults and 80% of black children do not swim in England and research from the WHO confirms that the risk of drowning is higher amongst minority ethnic people.
However, the issues for water safety go deeper with 1 in 4 of all children leaving primary education in England unable to swim. EdenTree Investment Management and the BSA are committed to help make change and save lives.
By joining the challenge and logging your miles on Strava you can help unlock a donation of £20k from EdenTree to the BSA. EdenTree
Investment Management are part of a group of financial services businesses that have given over £200m to charity in the last three years.
Following a similar grant last year, EdenTree were delighted to be able to support a 13-week programme of delivering education and water skills to 16 young people
in Medway, to develop their swimming ability, increase education and awareness regarding water safety and drowning prevention.
All we need to do is collectively swim 3,000km, the figure Alice swims in a year, to unlock the £20k and support a similar programmer to the above. We call this our
Movement for Good. The challenge kicks off on 26th July 2023, exactly one year before the Paris Olympic Games opens and will be open for a month on the Strava platform. Your target can be a length of your local pool or perhaps you can get closer to Alice’s competition distance of 10k, all amounts will contribute to our total. So let’s get swimming and save lives.
