Dear fellow swimmers

The clocks have gone forward here in the UK and my social news feeds have started to fill up with pictures of lidos preparing to open, lake venues extending their opening hours and photos of double-digit water temperatures being recorded.

While it won't be warm enough for long-distance swims quite yet, there is all the potential, excitement and anticipation of what the year can bring. Spring can literally spring us into action as we consider what swimming events we might like to enter; what swim trips we can do with friends or new places we can discover. I love spring swimming. Blossom on trees, you can stay in the water a little longer as air temperatures warm but still get the zing from a swim and those extra hours of daylight can lift even the darkest of moods.
