YOUR ESSENTIAL WEEKLY EDIT OF OUTDOOR SWIMMING
#swimwildandfree
It is terribly British to talk about the weather, but
outdoor swimmers across the UK have been dodging thunderstorms this week and hoping for warmer, sunnier days. I heard from someone this week that this month is called May because we may experience a heatwave, we may experience rain or we may experience snowfall – it made me laugh! If you are swimming in changing conditions, don't swim in an active thunderstorm and do take extra care!
After the surprising news that the Jubilee River 10k swim looks set to be cancelled this year it was welcome news to hear that
Level Water has managed to resolve issues that threatened to cancel this year's Dart 10k. The iconic swim couldn't go ahead last year due to unsafe weather conditions, so it is great news that
the team at Level Water have found a resolution with the help of the National Trust to enable the event to take place – and charity tickets go live this morning at 10am!
Throughout May lots of lidos have reopened
for the season and we are all really excited at Outdoor Swimmer to hear that the brand-new outdoor pool, Sea Lanes, has an opening date. We will be down at the pool to celebrate in June! Meanwhile my
local lido in Guildford has also reopened after some investment, they are still building around swimmers but it is great to see community projects investing in these brilliant facilities!
Happy
Swimming!
