Join Team WaterAid and bring the joy of clean water

We all love swimming and being in the water, but we often take it for granted. In the UK we’re so lucky to have clean, fresh water in abundance for both drinking and swimming. But for many around the world that just isn't the case.

This year, as a team member of Outdoor Swimmer, I've decided to learn more about the impact of climate change on water across the globe and dive into a swim with the mission of fundraising (and pushing myself a little). I've just learnt that right now there are 771 million people who don't have clean water close to home. They must rely on far-away water sources, wasting hours every day collecting water that isn't even safe. They're forced to drink and clean with dirty water that could make them sick.

Together, through our love of the water, we can change that. Whether you’re already a swimming fanatic or you’re looking to dip your toe in for the first time, you can join me and Team WaterAid to make a difference to your own life and to others’. What has climate change got to do with WaterAid?

When a community gets clean water for the first time there's a tremendous sense of joy and celebration. They know that from now on, there's a chance for children to stay in school and get an education, for families to make a decent living, and for the whole community to lift themselves out of poverty. There's the possibility of a healthier, happier life. You can help spread these joys and possibilities by taking part in a charity swim challenge, and bringing clean water to people around the world.
